New Lodge Arts held their annual evaluation day in August 2011 to hear lots of feedback from the local children who attended the arts, drama and dance events during the year. I organised a simple activity to keep them entertained and they made some really great fuzzy monsters using pom poms and pipe cleaners!

Craft Month Jewellery Workshops
Over August Craft Month, I delivered a series of jewellery workshops in the Ulster Museum as part of NMNI's Live and Learn Project for the over 50's age group.
My aim was to introduce the group to the museum's expanding jewellery collection and encourage them to use elements of traditional and contemporary pieces in their own design.
We focused our attention particularly on contemporary makers Katy Hackney, Deirdre Mc Crory, Brian Mc Clelland and Lynne Kirstin Murray.
Combining methods such as painting, printmaking, moulded wire mesh, beading, felt sheets and wool and wood work.

'Garden Invaders' Willow Sculptures
For Craft Month, I delivered a day long workshop in the Ulster Museum inspired by the current nature exhibition 'Native, Visitor or Invader.' Visitors of all ages created sculptures using willow.
Our creatures were a mixture of various species of birds, mammals and reptiles. Each one was named by our participants. They will be hung in the Discover Art Zone over August 2011.
'Duck Beak' named by Jamie Lyons
'Swirly Horn' named by Daniel Mc Comac
'Pheasy' named by Niamh Mc Nally
